101 THINGS ABOUT CHERYL-GLENN

i'm the youngest of 3
2. i have 2 sisters
3. they are 10 and 14 years older than me
4. i grew up in mt. vernon, illinois
5. i lived in the same house until i left for college in 1996
6. i went to lincoln elementary school and walked to school every day
7. one of my favorite things each year was the open house and chili night
8. my favorite teacher at lincoln was mr. strothman, in 5th grade
9. he gave me my one and only c grade (from k-12th grade)
10. he made us write book reports every 2 weeks and i secretly loved it
11. he was the first teacher to let us write with ink pens
12. in 6th grade, mrs. krueger's class, i was the teacher's pet
13. my ms band dir's name was mr. pigg & i never made fun of him
14. at a music camp after 8th grade, i first wanted to sing in a choir
15. the thought of going to high school scared me
16. i thought marching band was cool
17. mr. childers was my hs band dir and he was amazing
18. i had braces until my soph year of high school
19. my junior year of hs was when it started getting good
20. my first car was an '88 ford thunderbird: white exterior, red interior
21. it took me 2 weeks to get my first speeding ticket
22. my senior year, i got a ford escort to take to college
23. it didn't really slow down my driving
24. when i visited colleges my sr. year, i cried because i was so scared
25. i chose belmont university in nashville, tennessee
26. that was the best choice i have ever made
27. god changed my life at belmont
28. dane anthony was the campus minister my fresh and soph years
29. he became one of my personal heroes and is to this day
30. i experienced amazing grace for what felt like the 1st time in 1997
31. i hung out all the time in a building called 'the barn'
32. in 1997 and 1998 i sang in a gospel choir called "chadasha"
33. i met meghan (webb) jones in '98 and we had coffee together
34. she became my best friend and knows me better than anyone
35. i graduated from belmont in 2000
36. i went to nicaragua for 2 weeks right after graduation
37. that trip changed my life and the way i look at the world
38. i still feel a bond with the people i travelled with
39. i lived in henderson, ky, for 7 months after graduation
40. that, quite possibly, was the hardest 7 months of my life
41. i moved home for a year and a half after that
42. i cried a lot during that time
43. i got a broken heart during that time as well
44. god taught me so much, though, and i wouldn't trade that season for anything
45. i worked with the coffee house ministry i helped start in '98
46. working with that ministry helped me see god's call on my life
47. drew grounds and danny sells became great encouragers
48. then one day, i had this crazy idea to go to europe
49. so i took a job at the international community church, in surrey, england
50. i worked an m-fuge camp in west palm beach, florida, in the summer of 2002
51. i met some amazing people that summer
52. and 5 days after camp, i hopped on a plane for the uk
53. and that began a challenging, yet really rewarding 2 years of my life in
england
54. i love england
55. i love the culture and felt really at home there.... eventually
56. i lived in a flat in virginia water, surrey
57. that was a 10 min drive from heathrow airport
58. there was a train station across the street from our place
59. i lived with a girl named kerry guikema, who worked with younglife there
60. my second year there, i focused on worship leading
61. the relationships i built in that ministry will last a lifetime
62. when i left the uk, my worship team gave me an ipod
63. and i'm convinced it's one of the coolest inventions ever
64. when i returned to the states, i went directly to interview for a job in
florida
65. i took that job in clearwater, florida, and made plans to move there in
august 2004
66. i've never lived anywhere that doesn't have a winter season
67. i think i may miss the snow
68. i attended my first ever emergent convention in may 2004
69. being with those people and having those conversations felt like 'coming
home'.
70. i would love to be a part of a church-plant some day
71. but i know that church wouldn't look anything like the 'typical' church
72. i worked at a camp called: urban connexx in chicago in the summer of 2004
73. that was one of the hardest summers of my life
74. i was kicked in the face by a guy on the street
75. my favorite guitar, my taylor 310-CE, was stolen
76. but god taught me a lot and it opened my eyes to urban ministry
77. i found out that i love chicago.... after nurturing a disdain for it through
my childhood
78. i moved to florida the day after i got back from camp
79. the 16 hr drive gave me some time to think about life
80. i realized that i'm pretty pleased with how things are turning out
81. i love the idea of journalling, but i'm not successful at being consistent
with it
82. i want to write a book some day, but i'm still waiting to feel like i have
something to say
83. i love my blog page.... it has become my journal, of sorts
84. i also want to open a bookstore some day
85. i'm addicted to books and don't have enough shelves for those i have
86. i've given guitar lessons in the past and actually enjoying giving them
87. or at least i enjoy the money i get for giving them
88. one of my favorite things to do is 'get coffee' with folks
89. i'm addicted to coffee, but have trouble having time to make it at home
90. i had an adverse reaction to 3 cuban coffees this summer
91. i think it gave me a glimpse of what life on uppers would feel like
92. i'm not very disciplined
93. i wish i worked out more and ate less
94. i still haven't figured out this 'cooking for one' thing
95. romantic relationships scare me, because i think i stink at them
96. but deep down, i'd love to have that connection with someone
97. i love playing in bands, but have a major lack of confidence in that area
98. i've gone to counseling several times in my life and we always try and tackle
those issues
99. but i never feel like we get anywhere
100. i love post-it notes and making lists
101. and making this list was very satisfying for me
