Journal Entry #1 March 3, 2002
This is a testimony to God's faithfulness. Even when we stray from Him, He continues to work out His plan for our lives. And, as we seek His plans and desires for our lives, with patience and perseverance, He always does "immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine" (Ephesians 3:20). On May 20, I will be heading to Palm Beach Atlantic College, in West Palm Beach, Florida, to lead worship for 8 weeks of M-Fuge, a youth camp that emphasizes Bible study, worship and missions experiences. In our camp, students will get the opportunity to choose their type of ministry for the week, be it creative arts, sports, construction, environmental, backyard Bible clubs, social or others. Each day, the kids break into their track groups where they have Bible study and go to their service projects. They come back in the afternoons for recreation and free time and then end the day with worship, followed by time with their church groups. This is gonna be an awesome opportunity and I can't wait to be a part of it! Only days after I return from M-Fuge, I will be flying to England to serve as a youth ministry intern for 1 year. The church where I will be serving is in Oxshott, England (just outside of London). It is with an International Community Church, which ministers to people who are in England, from outside of the country. Their congregation is made up of North Americans primarily, but also people from all around the world, many of whom work in business in London. This should be an exciting opportunity for me! I am very excited about the growth that will take place during my time over there! Chris Wighaman, the youth minister at ICC is excited about bringing more worship experiences into the ministry to their students and I'm excited to get to use the gifts God has given me for His glory, as well as grow into the other giftings I know I have! There is an old adage that says, "The journey is the destination." And, I truly believe this. Of course, as Believers, we know that we have an eternal destination awaiting us . Heaven! But, we also read in the Bible that the Kingdom of God is coming right now, in the hearts of all of those who claim His name. And, as we seek after Him and daily commit our hearts to His cause, we are taking steps on a journey. This journey is the process that we are in where God is making our hearts new and He is making us into the image of Jesus, His son. And in that sense . Yes, the journey is the destination. The destination of our hearts is the new life that we can be given through Christ! |
